@Expecting_Words That's insane. Also, 3 other occupants were issued citations as well. The absurdity of this boggles the mind.

@BikerBecca @Expecting_Words from the article, the child's seat was not secured to the vehicle. many of the people in the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts. they definitely deserve the citations, and the criminal charge. the officer was also charged, though I feel like they could have got him on much more, considering the speed of his vehicle.

@suullus that doesn't matter at all if your vehicle is hit by a car going 90+mph. Child seats don't do shit about that. @BikerBecca

@Expecting_Words @BikerBecca if the child seat is properly secured, the seat won't bounce around inside of the car when it gets hit, unless something causes a strap to break or come unhooked. implying that the damage would be the same if it was hooked in assumes that the child didn't receive injury from the seat not being secured, which I would seriously doubt.

@suullus the top comment on the article refutes this exact point. @BikerBecca

@Expecting_Words @BikerBecca according to IIHS, tests are conducted at 40 and 35 MPH. Yes, the speed in this particular crash is very high. Yes the cop should lose everything for this and be incarcerated. And, yes, the mother should be charged because she did not secure her infant child's seat in the car.
