This is why my generation feels such animosity towards the baby boomers... in graph form. It isn't a great mystery.

@Expecting_Words We can thank Reagan and the rest of the Conservatives for the disparity. When it comes to Conservative Economic policy, this is a feature, not a bug. Divide and conquer.

@Expecting_Words After WW2 the Baby Boomer generation were the recipients of a robust economy. We went from war manufacturing to building homes. Corporations paid taxes and unions were strong. There were few at the top and few at the bottom and a boatload in the middle. A family could live on one income, purchase a home, car, had great healthcare (no HMO/PPO b.s.), send their kids to public schools, college was affordable (no student loans b.s.) and take a 2-week vacation.

@Expecting_Words
I don't want to invalidate your anger or frustration.

I also don't doubt that boomers have more generational wealth at this point, but I'm curious why that graph doesn't show the values below 40 for boomers. I wonder if there isn't a component of "inheritance" involved.

There is a point in your 40's->60's where parents begin to pass and pass down wealth. (for families that have that privilege.) I also wish that graph showed 3 sigma so we could see the overall ranges.
