Landlord is trying to sell the property for 500K over the local average, and it is not an above average property by any means. Gonna have to move. Tired of renting and giving my money to some boomer parasites. Looking for a house somewhere my spouse and I can afford. Kinda bummed about leaving the city :( but renting really is a suckers game and I want a yard and a garden.
@Expecting_Words that's why we bought a house during the last hot housing market. They offered to sell our 800 dollar a month patio apartment to us for 475K. It was great, but no. I still miss it but not 475K miss it.
@altamaha my landlord wants 1.2 million >.<
@altamaha so there's this strategy which is extremely common in NY real estate. You take a property and you put it up for sale at an inflated price. That price ends up on 3rd party listing sites. Then you take that 3rd party listing as evidence of value of the property and use that to get a larger loan.
I'm pretty sure this is what my landlord is doing.
