Update from yesterday’s post:
After intermittently staring at the sun for four hours today and directly at it during the bulk of the actual eclipse, my mother is now in ER with severe pain in her eyes and vision that’s been spotty for more than two hours, and a headache.
My stepfather called me and screamed at me because I “knew” this would have happened to her and I should have done a better job of talking her out of staring at the eclipse.

This is why I live two provinces away from my family.
