My son is cleaning up/fixing up his old PC, to give to a friend cause she doesn't have one. He said money is tight for her family and he wants to do something nice for her for Christmas. He plans on getting in touch with her Mom, so it will be a surprise gift from him, under her tree on Christmas. 😄
@Evereigh that’s awesome! As a rule of thumb I NEVER re-use old hard drives/SSD/NVME drives. If there’s ONE thing he’s going to change out and replace, I’d recommend replacing any storage & boot drives with brand new factory ones. Black Friday is coming up, so there should be plenty of cheap deals to go around! 🙂
@Dogofalltrees Yup! Right there with ya. That is the one piece we need to buy. I hoard PC parts like a dragon hoards treasure, lol, so I have everything else we need. :) Might have to buy a new copy of Windows, he has Win10 on an SSD, but doesn't use it, so we might be able to make a swap. (His new PC came with Win11)
@Evereigh buying a new copy of windows is easy enough. Use a reseller like CD keys or something. Super cheap, and it works. Only downside is that MS won’t help you with customer service (you are your own customer service lol). 😂 That’s what I always do. I do a better job than MS anyway lol
@Dogofalltrees I will definitely keep that in mind if we can't make a swap easily! Thanks for the tip! 😀
@Evereigh of course! I remember buying my windows license key from that website. 😂 Make sure to get key protection (it’s an extra $3 I think). But it’ll save your butt in case the key you get turns out to be a Lemmon. It’s never happened to me, but I never risk it. 😆
@Evereigh
Good parenting showing.
