Ballot drop boxes have been torched in California, Oregon, and Washington ... If you're voting by mail, my suggestion is you go to your local post office and either drop it off at the front desk or insert it through the mail slot, which is what I did.

Here in Philadelphia, they dump liquids into mail boxes and set them on fire just for shits and giggles. If I'm mailing anything, I use the post office lobby slot.
@EileenKCarpenter That seems to have been the case with the Phoenix ballot drop box arson. The police have a suspect in custody and say it wasn't politically motivated.
