I dunno, it's hard to see how to stop climate change without taking control of the fossil fuel companies.
They recognized the problem in the late seventies and have done nothing to diversify their businesses. If you read their annual reports, most don't even provide the numbers for their "clean" initiatives because they aren't material to the business, just PR stunts.
More broadly, modern capitalism is unsustainable because the market demands returns that aren't sustainable

Lots of utilities have always been government-owned precisely because their operation can't be trusted to what their shareholders feel is in their immediate best interest. It's selling those public utilities off to private buyers that's radical.

None of that gets at the fossil fuel companies, many of which are state owned. Think middle East, Russia, Central/South American
