I didn't see him defend anyone.
I saw him question why it's 'awesome' when it happens to someone we don't like.
Would we be laughing if it happened to the *current* VP? Or would we be questioning security protocols?

Yes, this was a harmless prank but it also shone a light on the vulnerability of any politician to an attack in public.

Turns out it wasnt Pence anyway. It was a local parade, and water balloons were part of the fun.
