not really sure how to prepare for tornadoes in my area
tomorrow "San Francisco Chronicle Meteorologist Gerry Díaz said cities and towns along Highway 1 in San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties could see thunderstorms capable of producing small hail and gusts of 35 mph that could form into tornadoes of 100 yards in length,
"'The areas with the highest risk of seeing brief tornadoes are cities right along Highway 1 in Monterey Bay, including Capitola, Santa Cruz, Aptos and Davenport.

@Museek if there's anything in your yard that could go flying, I would try to tie them down or take them inside. Keep bottles of water, a stock of canned food, a First Aid kit hidden somewhere safe and maybe low to the ground, and if you don't have a storm cellar (which most of us don't) maybe prepare to jump in the bathtub and hunker down there with the bathroom door closed. At least this is how I prepare for a hurricane. Otherwise, I'm not sure either, but I hope you stay safe out there!

@Jax_Wild_4_Life thank you 😊 yeah. It’s tricky when there aren’t basements… underpasses are probably best in our area. The heavy rain with it makes it trickier.

@Museek oh yeah! I have heard about the underpass thing! I imagine they must get packed though when tornado warnings are in effect. I just hope you stay safe regardless

Do NOT go to an underpass!

There was a viral video that showed people seeking refuge in one that made it seem safe, but it was an unusual combination of factors in play. After that, people would leave the safety of their homes and drive to underpasses (in very unsafe cars) and get stuck in traffic jams there. Most underpasses do not provide safety from rocks and debris flying like machine gun fire.

A ditch is even safer.
