How about some Piers Anthony? I've also heard of a new book called terraform Charlie that's supposed to be awesome ;)

@NapsAndSarcasm I share your feelings about Asimov. I used to read a lot of sci-fi and imho, his books fell short of those by Piers Anthony and J.P Farmer.
@EdgeOErin I always felt like he was trying to smash "science" into the reader's head... Anthony gets long winded doing the same but it didn't feel as much like he was talking to you like you couldn't use velcro 😉
@EdgeOErin as it's the topic... What's your take on Asimov?
I know his work is the benchmark for many, but I've personally never been able to fully immerse myself into anything I've tried to read of his.
