"According to Ticketekโ€™s social media post, the unexplained outage was โ€œa precautionary measure in response to system monitoring indicating a heightened threat levelโ€.

So, lemme get this straight.

On the plus side, they couldn't rip anybody off for a day or so.

However, because of digital ticketing, some people in two countries struggled to get into events that they were ripped off to go see in the first place.

Great system they've got over there...

Day 2 (afternoon):

Two more charges today, and the police say they believe even more young men will come forward now.

And, of course, the Murdoch people are doing what they do when it's one of their own:

"Former chief of staff to Tony Abbott turned Sky News presenter Peta Credlinโ€™s reaction an hour later was to support her longtime โ€œfriendโ€. Credlin and Jones co-hosted a program on Sky News before he departed the station in 2021."

Would it be because, like gravity, late-stage capitalism is pretty hard to stop unless you put something very robust in the way?

My coffee cup would smash on the floor if I tried to put it down and the desk wasn't there.

If you don't put meaningful regulation on what they do, corporations will always keep doing what makes them the most money, no matter how bad it might be in the long term.

It's inherent in the system ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@BillyBones

Gotta love the NYT. They've got a word in there that's working harder than a donkey pulling a freight train up Mt Everest.

Uh, hang on a minute NYT.

Except for the fact that she kept using Kremilin talking points to get on RT after they started saying how much they โค๏ธ her:

"No evidence has emerged that she has ever collaborated in any way with Russiaโ€™s intelligence agencies."

@InUnfunky

I agree.

However, while it probably won't stop the nomination going through, that lawyer's gotta do what he can to try to protect his clients from the inevitable retaliation if it does go through. Having the report public could help ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Day 2:

Ah, yes. The stories on the right explain, of course, why this formerly all-powerful radio personality hasn't been arrested before now, even though these allegations have been swirling around for years.

Glossary:

'Liberal' - The Liberal Party is the rough Australian equivalent of the Tory or Republican Parties.

'Silk' - King's Counsel or Senior Counsel: Barristers who make up the senior legal, judicial, and often the political classes.

@NorthernInvader

Not really. More a Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh type than the completely loony type. The whackiest he got was his obsession that the noise of wind farms causes some unspecified medical problem.

He was a speechwriter for a conservative Prime Minister and was the very successful head coach of our national rugby union team in the 80s.

But his main career was bullying politicians with his radio show, and he was particularly bilious towards women. A loathsome character overall.

Gotta admit that seeing a right-wing radio host who's caused so much hate and anger against women and immigrants finally get his comeuppance for something that's been an open secret for decades is a pretty good way to start the week. ๐Ÿ‘

Everyone should try an 8x12 stack at least once. Preferably with a JTM or model 1959 Marshall Plexi with no master volume.

Ya gotta turn those buggers up to 8 or 9 before they even start to work, and the ear-bleeding loudness is glorious*!

* unless you have a single-coil pickup and you live with proper 220V, 50-cycle power, in which case it's terrifying ๐Ÿ˜‚

@BillyBones

๐Ÿ˜‚ Pretty much! It's VERY effing heavy! ๐Ÿ˜‚

It was inspired by a guy I used to know who was WAY more successful at getting session work than I was back in the 90s. He had a 4x12 Marshall cab with four different speakers in it because he figured that you're close-micing anyway, so you could get four separate tones just by choosing a different speaker.

He had a point ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ .

@BillyBones @thomasbrunkard

We were only talking about Dr Sir Bri this morning when I was telling a mate about Chris Lord-Alge's thing of cranking his SSL EQ to full at 8K for guitar.

He said it was mad, and I argued: what is a treble booster anyway if not that? If Rory Gallagher and Dr Sir Bri do it, it must be right! ๐Ÿ˜‚

@BillyBones

I swap it between my Egnater 1x12 cab and the 2x12 cab I built from hardware store pine ๐Ÿ˜‚

The Egnater has an 80-watt Celestion of some kind or other, and my cab has an 80-watt Creamback on the right and a Vintage 30 on the left.

I tend to mic the Creamback more for recording because the V30 is very fizzy, but in a room the combination does the job.

@BillyBones

Also, now I think about it, this little monster gets as close to a Kossoff tone as I've ever managed. It's LOUD too (pick for scale):

@BillyBones

Huntsmen are fine. It's the redbacks under the seat that'll sting your sensitive bits, and the Funnelwebs in your shoes that make you tap them every single time before putting them on.

The redbacks are also notorious for breeding in pool filter lids, which is how I know they can't sting through the skin on my hand. I was emptying the basket once, felt a mild irritation, pulled my hand out, and saw quite a big one having a red hot go with no luck ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜‚
