I, too, believe that the Socceroos (which is a silly name for a team) can win games as long as they swap out the whole team for the far more experienced, successful, and less well-paid women's team.
Otherwise, they're not good enough.

This is the leader of our opposition.
Ex-senior police officer from Queensland who operated under a regime thatโs hard to descriibe. (Google Joh Bjelke-Petersen for some proto neo-fascism.)
Also the single most anti- immigrant politician in any mainstream party.
Familiar much? ๐
So this excellent documentary turned up the National Indigenous TV channel tonight.
It reminds me of the way we resisted the National Front skinheads back then, but also makes me think that they might be n the parliament now ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ

Interesting film though,, and well worth a look if you can find it.
Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil
From the 'Rock n Roll Circus'
Exactly. It was about control, and the very flawed men who wielded it used the Bible and all that as a tool to be interpreted however they like.
Think of the crusades. For guys who โshalt not killโ, โlove thy neighbourโ, and โ Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,โ they sure had no problems with convincing kings all over Europe to go off and unleash untold violence on their behalf ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
Yet.
Yup. Only the other day, I listened to a podcast about Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, who was simultaneously the Lord High Chancellor of England under Henry VIII.
And Rodrigo Borgia springs to mind as another particularly political animal, but it goes way, way further back than that. Basically all the way to St Peter himself.
When the church and the law are essentially the same thing, it really brings out the venality in men who crave power. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
You'd think so, yes.
But then I remember that the archbishops and whatnot in both the Anglican and RC churches are, and have always been, more politicians than anything else. The faith bit sometimes gets lost a bit in the cut and thrust of it all.
Whether they were mates/relatives of kings, or persuading synods or conclaves to elect them to the top, they've only ever gotten the gigs by cosying up to whoever has the power to hand them out.
Good. At least some people in high positions are still capable of feeling shame.
It's a neat bit of work that the acronym spells out both Elmo's fav crypto and the old Venetian/Genoan title "Doge" that they used for their leader and which is not a million miles away from 'Il Duce" ๐ฌ
๐ youโd pass the character test for a visa! ๐
But if our conservatives somehow manage to capitalise on this neo-authoritarian curiosity and win next yearโs election, all bets will be off ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
I donโt think weโll hold this foolishness against all of you. ๐๐
Well, not yet anyway ๐
Then -> Now
The tideโs further out today, but you can see that the sand is finally starting to come after being washed away by the โunusualโ storm activity (translation: new paradigm caused by climate change) this winter. It was โunusualโ alright. Iโve never seen that happen.
The sandโs covered up the rocks at the base of the stairs, and the beach is staring to look like itโs looked for the 25+ years Iโve lived here.
Itโs difficult to describe how frustrating it is when the video game tutorial tells you to set the speed at 230 kmh, but the controls wonโt go beyond 229 and you canโt finish the tute because you didnโt tick the box.

I like guitars a lot. Maybe too much.
I also do music production and mix engineering.
