I thought I had a plan for my novel, plotted out 15 story beats, whole 9 yards. Then I started writing it, and my characters started making their own choices as I helplessly watched, screaming "what are you doing?!?!"

Do I need a therapist? Or is this normal?

@Lillyrat @HaikuHedgehog yeah, proper sterilization is key for consistency. Its like, 40% of the process. You can do it without proper sterilization, and it will work, but it will have inconsistent yeilds and colonization rates. Right now I'm taking my time to find techniques that work for me that can be scaled up as I grow this into a business. If I only perfect substrate handling and nothing else, most of my work will be done.

@HaikuHedgehog @Lillyrat I'm using wood pellets, because I have a lot of them for my pellet stove. Soon I'm going to switch to sawdust, because I have a few local sources that I can get it for free.

@holon42 yeah, that seems more appropriate. I found it confusing because I didn't think it was british writing, and it seems consistently used in much of what I have been reading.
