Actual question posed on the bird site: "If you ban guns, how would I protect myself and my family?"
A fence, an alarm system, motion-activated lighting, cameras, a dog — all of these things have been endorsed by my local law enforcement as ways to protect my home & my family.
When someone kicked down my door and attempted a home invasion, the alarm is what made them run.
That's what my police department encouraged. Or don't you back the blue...?
Recently overheard a member of 'the greatest generation' say they didn't realize the Village People were gay.
When I was 6, they were my favorite band. Too young to understand their act.
But as an adult? I mean...the range goes like
Not Gay
Kinda Gay
Gay
Clearly Gay
YMCGay
Make no mistake, I respected them more when I understood (and I still love disco today). But there was almost no subtext to their act and they got away with it.
Brilliant, yet blatant! How do you not get the point?
On April 26, 2022, I asked
then-Congressman, now-Speaker Kevin McCarthy to explain why he lied about recommending President Trump's resignation. As a Californian, I want my officials to be accountable for their choices.
One year & dozens of follow-ups later, still no response or responsibility. Bird-site 🧵below.
Long ago I handled community for Activision and had to explain why "free speech" didn't mean you could make in-game artwork of swastikas made of penises. This was my best analogy to try to reach people who insisted. Make it at home and not be arrested? Sure. Build it using someone else's art tool in someone else's environment? Nah.
@Thestia Just give it a silent nod without breaking eye contact. Then you can walk away unscathed.

2022 GOP: Just wait until we get into the new year! We're going to enact swift, terrible vengeance the moment we have power!
2023: It's been two days and we still can't pick a team captain.

@MichaelTalon Well, the alarm system is set up, the security floodlights are working fine, and I blocked him without replying, so I'm really hoping he doesn't know where to go in the first place, but if he arrives, there's no reason for me to open the door. :)
I've been headhunted before, but tonight I was faithhunted. A total stranger who lives in my town innocuously sent me an FB message asking about my guitar collection. Red flag -- potential thief? Worse -- he's an Elder Mormon. I have to assume, knowing how aggressive they are, that this is merely a tactic to get him another potential convert.
As an ex-altar boy of no fixed denomination, I blocked him. I do not want to jam.
Yesterday we cut, cleaned, and shipped a dozen Yahtzee cards, most of which were personalized with names & in-jokes, but a few blanks too. Totally your call! But if you want some for holiday gifts, visit http://bit.ly/katrinauch and we'll make more!
