*stares in South of the Border* 🤨
South of the Border - est. 1949 when Robeson County, NC went dry and Alan Schaeffer (beer distributor) set up a stand across the state line.
Signs extended both north and south on I-95. Still do. Cause it's still there.
Beautiful ~1960 vintage T-Bird.
My dad stopped there ONCE when I was a kid, at our insistence (see, those signs do work) that it would be FUN!
Back then, someone went through the parking lot and put bumper stickers (the old kind that stuck like they were fused) on all the cars in the parking lot.
It was not pretty.
Not sure if we chose not to go back or if my pops was banned. 🤣
