I'm going to ignore all the voucher arguments and address the idea of need.
I went to school with "the rich kids". Don't assume they are fed. Their parents will never fill out any poor people forms, but the cupboards may be bare. Or full of booze.
Feed all the fucking kids. Stop stigmatizing hunger.
Especially if you are bitching about a $5.00 meal when you are stuffing your face on an $86 per diem.
It's funny. The cafeteria at Cosmic Jr's elementary school was really good. Very small neighborhood school in a historic district that has been saved from closure innumerable times.
I mention this because I once complimented the lunch lady who told me she served the only full meals most kids got and it was her job to make sure they learned to enjoy good meals. No ketchup as a veggie in her kitchen. 😉
We could change so much if we fed people.
