Years ago I did some selling on very early eBay. It was the Wild West with the exception of Disney. They do not mess around with their copyrights and trademarks - straight for the jugular.

So far all we know is they were sold on his "book tour", not who actually had them made or made them. Still, fun to imagine. 🐭
