Guys, I was able to unlock my brain! I kicked on some Guns & Roses and relaxed a bit and did what I would call actual crochet.
November Rain on repeat was the key apparently?
Now it’s time to put in the 1000 hours.
@LAHolloway thanks for the encouragement! Honestly seeing your work and you explaining you’ve done this for 30 years helped me just give myself some slack. Thanks for that.
@Coffee_and_Salt Definitely!
I don't want to be a source of consternation. It's easy to look at more experienced hands and think "I'll never be that good," but we all started out exactly where you're at, and we all have things we're still not good at.
@Coffee_and_Salt that looks incredibly cozy 😊
@Coffee_and_Salt 😂 To be fair, I dunno if we ever truly master crochet so much as aspects of the craft.
@Coffee_and_Salt don’t worry, there’s nothing to back that number up; some dude just threw it out there and it’s basically become a meme 😅
@Nimthiriel @Coffee_and_Salt That dude was Malcom Gladwell and he has since been outed as full of snot. That specific fact is one of the many that has been contradicted by research. That said, I am impressed with even dozens of hours of practice at a craft!
@jackge @Nimthiriel I aspire to a dozen! But I will get there, then on to some other achievable and realistic number!
@Nimthiriel @Coffee_and_Salt Agreed. It doesn't take 10,000 or even 1,000 hours of practice to master the aspects of crochet, and to master every aspect of the craft is a delightfully unattainable goal that will forever prove elusive.
@Coffee_and_Salt That looks really soft, I want to touch it.
Whoops. Nice try brain. 10,000 hours. It’s 10,000 to master a skill.
