Here are the nine Republicans running for House speaker
----
I've put a check next to the names of the two who did not try to overturn the election:
Rep. Tom Emmer (Minn.) ☑️
Rep. Kevin Hern (Okla.)
Rep. Pete Sessions (Tex.)
Rep. Austin Scott (Ga.) ☑️
Rep. Byron Donalds (Fla.)
Rep. Jack Bergman (Mich.)
Rep. Mike Johnson (La.)
Rep. Dan Meuser (Pa.)
Rep. Gary Palmer (Ala.)

“Congressman Austin Scott is catching the eyes of investors today following a report on how well politicians’ stocks did compared to SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY) in 2021.”
Corrupt. Surprise me.

“ Emmer and the other seven Republican House leaders voted against establishing a national commission to investigate the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol Complex. Thirty-five House Republicans and all 217 Democrats present voted to establish such a commission.”
* Emmer opposes abortion rights
* opposes legislation to combat school bullying against gay and lesbian young people
* called climate science "Al Gore's climate porn"
* proponent of cryptocurrency
Ugh.
It appears the Republican Party want to lose Congress.
@Coctaanatis Only two. Wow, hard to be less impressed.
@AnitaLL It's not a great selection, but some are less bad than others. Emmer is opposed by Trump and would probably be an improvement over McCarthy, Scalise or Jordan. He's probably next up for a vote.
@Coctaanatis Thanks for doing the work, results not shocking.

“Republican Rep. Austin Scott of Georgia reported buying and selling up to $45,000 worth of stock in General Electric in late 2020 (while a member of Congress — he’s also on the House Armed Services Committee; GE makes defense equipment). A spokesperson for the six-term lawmaker, Rachel Ledbetter, said Scott and his wife "own stocks like millions of American families do.”
But do they do insider trading? Yes.
