Are you confused by the interface here? We admit, it can be a lot to get used to.

Here's a handy overview. We hope it helps!

If it doesn't, try using the mobile app. It's streamlined for ease of use.

This handy primer has been pinned to @CoSoTips for all of your future enjoyment.

Overwhelmed by the interface? Throw CounterSocial into a new tab and make that tab as "skinny" as you possibly can.

Now you've got pseudo-mobile mode!

One good way to lessen the complexity of the interface here is to enable what we call "Ostrich Mode".

Ostrich mode removes the news ticker and other UI elements for a sleeker CounterSocial experience, and may be found in your Preferences menu.

For more tips on understanding the UI here and how to improve it, click on "Show thread" below.

@CoSoTips Can you provide a little detail on the doodads in the left column above and below the post box?

@CoSoTips How does one get the "Current Overall CoSo Sentiment" to show up? I'm not in Ostrich Mode, as I have the other two elements. TYIA

@Toni_Walker @CoSoTips In my experience, it's just there on the standard browser site. Do you have an adblock enabled?

@StonePiggy I don't have an adblock on this device yet. Perhaps Firefox is affecting things? Thank you for the response though.🙏

@Toni_Walker I wish I could help, but I don't know much about how this site works in browser. Maybe try signing in on a different browser and see if anything is different? I hope the issue is resolved soon for you!

@StonePiggy Ah, well. It's just a fun little extra. I figured the overall sentiment was usually on the pleasant side anyway. 😀

@CoSoTips I'm not seeing that network sentiment gauge on my desktop.

@CoSoTips I just figured out I have to zoom out of the page down to 67% in order for the network sentiment gauge to show up. It's not visible at all at 100%.

CounterSocial uses a responsive design. This means that if your screen resolution cannot accommodate all of the interface elements, then they will become hidden to you.

To test this, try pressing CTRL + (minus) to zoom out until you can see the sentiment meter. You can then use CTRL + (plus) to zoom back to 100%, if you prefer. @NoahPaulLeGies

@CoSoTips That is what I just mentioned doing, and what I posted screengrabs of.

@CoSoTips I "fixed" it by buying a larger monitor to connect to my laptop (along with a keyboard), essentially turning it into a portable (but not often moved) desktop computer.

@NoahPaulLeGies @CoSoTips
Some elements are removed due to space issues...
Sometimes Ctrl- a few times will shrink things enough to bring everything back into view...

@CoSoTips I really like the mobile app. Thanks so much!

@CoSoTips could you please make it work for iPad too? Thanks.

@CoSoTips mobile mode? not sure that's a selling point tbh.

@CoSoTips these tips are great! We know somebody knows and somebody cares

@CoSoTips

Can you provide user tips for the Ipad users.

Thank you

@CoSoTips I actually am quite digging it as is. Once I got used to it, I wish that other social media had this multicolumn layout.

@CoSoTips I’m using the mobile app for iPhone but I can’t figure out how to get notifications on my phone
