Lori Vallow sentenced to life. That's sure more than her two children got. Save the money and do a public execution. Maybe it will slow the next nutcases down who want to attempt this. Unpopular opinion maybe, but it is still mine. cnn.com/2023/07/31/us/lori-val

@CinnamonGirlE oh I just listened to her statement before sentencing. Her delusional way of slapping the face of the family members left by trying to say that the victims came to her and told her they’re happy it’s it. I have no words I’m just dumb struck!!!

@Olivecatto
I haven't seen or heard that yet. Catching news on the fly. A woman who would do this to her children is beyond the pale. Wow.

@CinnamonGirlE It hasn’t deterred them so far, I doubt it will anytime soon. I’m torn about capital punishment. If you absolutely, with no room for a sliver of doubt, know they’re guilty and it was one or more particularly heinous crime, I could possibly be good with that, but if you’re wrong and they are innocent, you can’t take death back.

@cjcrew
I understand. And there are instances of it being wrong; more than one. So yes, but her? She did this. Despicable.
Honestly? I don't know if anything would stop her or people like her.
I would certainly like to see Justice executed in a horrific way for her just like those poor kids must have felt.

@CinnamonGirlE She’s guilty, I have no problem with this happening to her. I was just thinking out loud because I’ve seen this done falsely too often, mostly in custody cases, ruining an innocent person’s reputation because that type of accusation never really goes away. Sorry, I usually try to not say these things out loud because I don’t want to bring doubt to a true accusation.

@cjcrew
No need to be sorry. We all have our beliefs. I don't disagree with wrong convictions. They are as appalling as the murders, etc. But in cases where we KNOW they are guilty. Ironclad. Why should they live? Why should we feed and shelter them? This is what I am talking about. No drawn out appeals, lingering for decades and torturing the victims families. No life when they have callously taken others.

@CinnamonGirlE Because repentance is never completely off the table, and quite often, except in the case of a true sociopath, there is guilt to be lived with, maybe even tortured by. But more importantly, because without mercy we are exactly like them.

Don’t get me wrong, I want to see her suffer just like those children suffered under her, but I do think it’s also important I don’t stoop to her level.

@cjcrew

Her repentance does those kids no good. Perhaps in a next life for her depending on beliefs. But there are true sociopaths. And psychopaths. And just damaged dangerous people. To pretend otherwise is crazy.
I hardly think my wish for justice, for someone who has done what they have done, makes me the same as them. After all, my kids are still here. And it sure wasn't always easy. Now if it is worse torture for them to live? And it may be. I can get on board with that.

@CinnamonGirlE When the death penalty is used, violent crime goes up. When it is done away with, violent crime goes down.

If the death penalty actually had a positive effect, I'd be less against it.

@CoyoteConscious
I see that this is sadly true.

I am definitely the person who has a thirst for justice in cases such as the Vallow case. I then want to see it executed in a similar way.
By the time we get down to punishment of murderers, rapists, pedophiles, all hope is lost for these people. Society has failed them.
People are who they are by the age of five. I will die on that hill. Until we get behind that and understand we all are connected, this will continue.

@CoyoteConscious @CinnamonGirlE My beef with the death penalty is how many actually innocent people have been executed, while the actual perpetrators walk free...if there is undisputable proof of guilt through, I'm down for Mme Guillotine singing her song...but it has to just that INDISPUTABLE PROOF...which is not witnesses...they are lousy with error.

@Avidspark @CoyoteConscious
Of course. Agreed with that 100%. But if indisputable as it sometimes is? Off with their heads.
Witnesses are the lowest form of evidence. Absolutely! They are people.

@Avidspark @CoyoteConscious @CinnamonGirlE Yup. Not “beyond a reasonable doubt”, but “beyond a shadow of a doubt”.

@Avidspark @CoyoteConscious @CinnamonGirlE

Even with the incontrovertible proof, a lot of times, the people that are executed are not actually competent to be executed, but we do it anyway. We are executing people with mental capacity of eight year olds.

@CoyoteConscious @CinnamonGirlE when I was in law school, everything I read demonstrates that the death penalty is not an effective deterrent. It has never been an effective deterrent. It is revenge, pure and simple.

If you look at the psychological studies, it’s the same thing. It’s not a deterrent, even if you go back to “ the crime of punishment.”

We have known for decades the death penalty is not editor it, but we sure enjoy torturing people to death. We love revenge.

@J_Windrow @CoyoteConscious
I freely admit it. I do want revenge for the murdered, the raped, the sexually abused. But only when it is just. Justice. I want that. I make no apologies for it.
But. Justice is obviously when the correct person has the justice applied to them. Otherwise it isn't justice. I am pretty bleeding heart. But I guess at the end of the day, if you are a criminal with no regard, or perhaps even born with no internal compass and visit this on others? Why should you live?

@CinnamonGirlE How many of you have seen children die? From preemie to the age of Lori's kids? It's hard enough when fate takes them, so I understand Cinny's rage. No first dance, no first kiss, no first drive. How about this for a middle? Lori has a life sentence. No, TV, no commissary, no gen pop associations, no books. Whatever pittance she makes at her prison job goes to the cost of incarcerating her. No luxuries. let her pray, that should keep her busy. Let her sentence mean punishment.

@Jezibaba @CinnamonGirlE I heard part of Lori's some bullshit about the kids telling her "Mom it's OK kill us you know it's right". And I'll be in the arms of Jesus with my kids. OK let's offer that to you on the express plan. You tell us Lori how much you believe that, we'll help you get there.

@MidnightRider @CinnamonGirlE The judge was dead on about her lack of remorse. She has a wake of dead bodies behind her.

@Jezibaba @CinnamonGirlE Yep. And I've seen Christians throw themselves on the floor and babble gibberish claiming it's God talking. Well Lori place your bets, put up or shut up, you want to go be with Jesus? Let's see if you believe your own bullshit. The judge should have offered it to her, you want execution then Lori?

@MidnightRider @CinnamonGirlE He's following the law. If there isn't a death penalty in ID yet, give the nationalists time. That day's a coming.

Chad's next. Piece of shit.

@Jezibaba @CinnamonGirlE Don't know the Chad piece. OK tell ya what Lori, we will escort you to the NK line, push you across, best of luck to you.

@Jezibaba @CinnamonGirlE OK I get the gist, I wonder if he will run his mouth the same way to the judge and stick to the story of crazy? Also, he's in for a rough ride, inmates that have harmed kids are not held in prison esteem.

@MidnightRider @Jezibaba
I have always heard that people who harm children have a rough time in prison. So be it. I sure won't shed any tears for her. I am saving mine for the victims. Or him hopefully.

@CinnamonGirlE @Jezibaba I don't know about the ladies, but my dad was in the courthouse. The first thing they're going to do is steal everything he has and he's going to have to fight like hell to regain it or be the towel boy, but hey, Jesus Saves!

@MidnightRider @Jezibaba
I don't know about prisons. But I can speak to mental institutions. (As a nurse) And I can tell you the women's wards were always worse. So good luck to Lori.

@CinnamonGirlE @Jezibaba Been there, called on the one where Son of Sam was chilling, scary stuff the broken human mind. Scarier yet when broken becomes OK, like Germany and Italy.

@MidnightRider @Jezibaba
I don't want to get where broken is okay. But we are already part of the way there.

@Jezibaba @CinnamonGirlE PS Jezi, this extremism is EXACTLY why this country is in a fight for its life against becoming a theocracy and exactly why it should never be one. As Jack Nicholson said in a movie "Go sell crazy somewhere else, we're all stocked up".

@MidnightRider @CinnamonGirlE can you imagine trying to deal with Americans as a foreign nation if the nationalists get a full hold?

@Jezibaba @CinnamonGirlE I live where the baby Jesus cries in you use cannabis balm, so I don't have to imagine very far.

@Jezibaba @MidnightRider
I feel certain they already view us as nuts. The lead runner for the opposing party for president currently has indictments up the wazoo and saying he will run from prison. And when I last checked, he wasn't being stopped from it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@CinnamonGirlE @MidnightRider we had nothing in place. Not one stop gap. Shame on us.

@Jezibaba @MidnightRider
You are right. Shame on us. If we don't make moves to stop it now? We'll never have to worry about it again.

@Jezibaba @CinnamonGirlE Look at the DOJ! Well OK Trump you can break the gag order, slander and libel all you like, we don't want to rock the boat.

@MidnightRider @Jezibaba
Maybe worse. Because DJT has power Manson never had. But I'll wager you they are every bit as crazy.
