Today, my husband & I celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary!

We're staying at home though. The weather is supposed to become nasty any minute (high winds and rain is due) so the cars are covered and we're selecting something to watch as we snuggle on the couch! (c;

@Twocrazybunnies
There's never quite enough turkey leftover for sandwiches. But then, I haven't cooked a whole turkey in a few years, either. I usually just buy a turkey breast roast, as there's less waste and it helps keep the bears out of our trash bin. We had turkey sandwiches last night for dinner and that was the end of the turkey. I try to make just enough for 2nds and maybe one small serving for the desperate on day #2.

They've just added a dark/light mode switch in PREFERENCES - after clicking the three dots next to your name in profile! Yay!

@Kikiadine
Did you notice/hear that we can now change our background to a lighter version? I'm so much happier with the lighter color. I felt like I was crawling through a dark cave, before. Just click the three dots next to your name and edit your PREFERENCES. Select light or dark mode. (c; Yay!!

@celticsfanaticentomologist
That is becoming more apparent every day. Unfortunately, the "bugs" do drink, it appears. The rest of the insect world is diminishing as the mammalian bugs πŸ§Ÿβ€β™‚οΈπŸ§Ÿβ€β™€οΈ crawl out of hiding and begin to defecate on everything. πŸžπŸ›

I am SO HAPPY they've added a light mode! Thank you, CoSo!! That dark mode made me ancy to leave. Woo hoo! 🌀

MAGA Republicans are so dangerous and extreme that they have started to call anyone who says Nazis are bad or refuses to deny the horrors of the Holocaust a member of the β€œwoke left” or a β€œcommie.”

It’s modern-day McCarthyism, this time enabled by Kevin McCarthy.

Many are deriding for ultimatum requiring employees to agree to work harder for more hours…

But how many are considering that is what we are requiring of our health care workers for three years running?

Alito is corrupt. Thomas is corrupt. Kavanaugh and Barrett are overt and shameless liars. SCOTUS must be disbanded and rebuilt.

Our legal experts are going LIVE at 3p ET to discuss Garland's appointment of Jack Smith to serve as Special Counsel to handle the Trump criminal investigations. Attorney Karen Friedman Agnifilo, who worked with Smith, tells us he's "the real deal." Watch: youtu.be/p87mljBLXdg

@Oma_Trisha I'm very sorry for your loss. )c: Cancer truly is devastating. I lost my eldest brother to it in '87 (he was 40) & my dad in '90 (he was 68.) The songs you play show we shared similar timelines. I grew up in CA, near SFO and have always lived along the Pacific coast - but inland a little bit. I'm happy to have found you here! May your memories continue to warm your heart!

@Oma_Trisha

That was.. and still is my husband's & my song. He was active duty millitary until 2005 when he retired. During our marriage he had over 7 years of seatime, and often had duty (overnight) about 1 in 4. We spent a lot of time away from one another, so now - we sit on the couch & snuggle every chance we get! πŸ₯° Fidelity is our anchor.

@Gracked @San_Ban

Our timing was right when we were house-hunting 20 yrs ago. We haven't gone camping since we moved to the Pacific Northwest. We fell in love with the property & the wildlife is just a bonus!

@Gracked @San_Ban

We have yard waste collected with our weekly garbage pickup. Separate huge bin. It goes to a place where they compost everything. Of course, there's a fee for that and a fee to buy it back as compost - but it's rich & te garden loves it. Maybe your local refuse agency can start one, if there's enough community interest. Here's ours.. cedar-grove.com/

@Gracked

Do you have a mulching lawn mower? Mow through them so they get chopped up. Try to do this in one area so you can rake them easily into garden beds and spread around your plants. They will decompose fairly quickly & enrich your topsoil. Earthworms will love them! Soil bacteria & fungus will break them down further & by spring, nutrients will be seeping down for roots to take them up into trees, shrubs & next year's flowers.

@San_Ban @Gracked

Yes! We have many trees on our property (mostly firs) so we have a chipper that we use for branches that fall. We drop in maple leaves when they're dry and add them to the mix. Great to return nutrients back to the soil! Bigger woodchips line paths. Deer love it as bedding, too!
