When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart
But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon

@catlynne333 I'm not sure what happened with him but you could see in his eyes that he was terrified as he had a death grip on the podium.
I never could get into Jimmy Buffet. After a song or two I would get bored.
He's not alone.. Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen are in that category as well.
Though I have learned an appreciation for Springsteen's Nebraska album over the years.
You, yourself, are the eternal energy which appears as this Universe. You didn’t come into this world; you came out of it. Like a wave from the ocean.

I gave you all I had
I gave you good and bad
I gave, but you just threw it back

@AskTheDevil The comments following the video feature many who are supporting the man and excoriating her.
And I think about all the men and women who have been stopped for being merely Black. I think about all the Black men and women who have been killed by law enforcement. How many times have we heard, "Well if they just complied..." or "Well, they should have just listened.." .
I watch this and know he won't be hurt, but I also know if the driver had been Black, I would be watching a video with a completely different ending, with comments instead defending the cop.

I find this video amazing, but more, the comments that follow.
This guy appears to be a golfer, so a man of some means, and he yelled at the officer putting his hand in her face. He was stopped for going 57 in a 35. He exited the vehicle without asking, was hostile, and failed to comply. In a reasonable world, people would be glad that civilians helped her subdue this man, but no, not in this world.
In this world, she is being ridiculed and vilified.

Our oasis here is just a small sampling of the world at large.
I think this all represents a few things that are truly wrong with our society in general. So many are overwhelmed and no one really knows how to fix it (and so many other things) .. but moreover, our elected leaders are failing us.
I do believe one person can effect change, but change sometimes happens too slowly for comfort.. or for safety!
We each need to practice listening, grace, acceptance, and compassion.
I constantly vacillate between two opposites: aggressive and passive. Either I meddle too much in the lives of loved ones or I feel helpless in the face of their actions.
~ Elif Shafak, The Forty Rules of Love
I sincerely hope that when we start seeing people needing to be rescued after the onslaught of Hurricane #Idalia.. and before posting heavy criticism and non-compassionate thoughts.. that we remember there is a very thick, if unrecognized, gray line between necessity and possibility. In some cases, self evacuation is a privilege.
We are self-deprecating nihilists who reject authority and yet never give up. Why is that so bad? 🤪
What's so funny 'bout peace, love, and understanding?
