... like firstly, who said "all at once"? and secondly, and bear with, THIS WOULDN'T BE THE FIRST TIME THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED IN ONE GO AND HOLY FUCK READ A BOOK. #politcs
.. just seems stupid. And lazy. It's like reverse tankie behavior. (the only imperialism and bad that can happen in the world is American). Now, to another argument I've seem "hurh hurh how could they execute 15k people at once?". Honest to god, I made the home alone face at that one... #politics
Thinking about the kerfuffle around the "viral" post about 15K Iranians about to be executed. I dunno the exact truth of this but, honest to god, people are dumb. A bunch of people who were complaining about it were saying "it's clearly western imperialism drumming up a war". Now, while two things can be true at once, automatically thinking "USA BAD ERGO THIS IS A LIE" about.. everything... #politcs
@Chief_Twit but the treatment options are.. shit.
@Chief_Twit just cut down on the salt and buy gravol. I was on a diuretic for a while.
@Chief_Twit it's no fun when it's kicking off for real. I'm in the "bunt out" phase. I get anything like vertigo mb once a year now.
#IAmSoHardcore that I am deaf in one ear from going to too many hardcore shows.
@kel between that and the HURRY HURRY.. oh yeah, i'll look at it when I'm back from vacation shit .
True story: me and another guy got told a thing's deadline was moved up. We worked crazy fast for three days, got in super early so we didn't have to stay super late. 5pm Friday, we finish our internal review, I send my doc to him, he emails it ot client. bing.. "out of office message"
@BLuOXide @folkmagifili the best thing is that the meteomedia app also sends it. So untill I changed the alerts I'd get it from the government and then, a few seconds later, I'd get the replay of it.
@folkmagifili @BLuOXide the worst was in an open office. That had three stories.. it was deafening.
@kel Send off roughly a week's worth of learning to a SME. Get back the ok 10 minutes later. Eff you buddy.
@inconsequential yeah, that's a good moment. We're in an endless renovation cycle and either I or the manufacture got some cover panel measurements wrong. I didn't want to cut the finished panel, so I used a chisel to make a groove into the floor and when it snapped into place it was a total 'WOOO!" moment.
@inconsequential but yeah, there is a TON of folks who look down on manual labour. I'm a big fan of the point that there is no such thing as unskilled labour. Like I said earlier in the thread, I worked as a mover (I also did packing).. The difference between when I started and my last day were VAST.
@inconsequential meh. it's just different. Like folks in small towns are "real americans/canadians" and the rest of us are.. something else.
@inconsequential I think the thing is that parole discount knowledge/creative work because it’s supposedly “not work” in the sense that, say, manual labour is.
And, to be clear, having done it, I know that manual labour is A LOT. And is not sustainable on the body etc etc. But this idea that knowledge work is "easy" based merely on the metric of "did I pick up heavy stuff" is silly. There was an electrician doing work here and he watched me do my job out of the corner of his eye. I got out of a meeting and he said "that would kill me".
@kel yep. My body can't be a mover and it doesn't pay enough. I'm too old to transition to trades but I really loved that part of that work. I think that's why I love backpacking. Wake up, eat, pack all the stuff you need back into bag, walk and see nice things, unpack, eat, sleep, repeat. A nice clarity.
