Any attempt at even the smallest accountability and the police unions basically threaten the citizens "Oh if we can't do thing X or are held accountable for thing Y, we won't be able to help you because we'll be scared of getting trouble". It's like a protection racket. cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/qu

and in Quebec, the politicians are either in thrawl, or interested in looking tough on crime or scared of the "union" so they either play along or make it worse. It's.. I'm tired of it and I don't understand. A million years ago a prof said to me "complex problems require complex solutions" and yet we keep doing the same idiotic, simplistic things and expect that THIS TIME it will work.

@FPonTheDL Marie. I'm sure your friend is a great person.

@Shelter Our premier, after the ruling that said the police could no longer do random stops, said that they HAD to in CERTAIN NEIGHBORHOODS. FFS DUDE THAT'S WHAT THIS IS ABOUT.

@Shelter so they're going to spend tax dollars to appeal the ruling. So, to review: my tax money will be used to oppress people, and then it was used to fight the first court case, and now it will be spent to appeal and ALL THE WHILE they'll be stopping random black and brown people for the high crime of *checks notes* existing.
