I'm happy we have a strong candidate in this election, but it still baffles me as how this is a 'tight race' anywhere. I just don't understand how anybody who was sentient on Jan 6 could not see the existential threat to our democracy the orange felon represents. I get the 'unreachables', but they've never been a majority. I guess our 'liberal' media should get a lot of the credit for keeping the horserace 'close'.

One factor is the rest of the GOP pols. The cowards are all afraid to stop kissing his doughy ass, so they support him to their local base. They repeat his lies, "explain" what he really-o truly-o *meant* to say, and demonize the Democrats with bullshit they know good and well is bullshit.
