VD Vance whining that corporate America is anti child and it needs to change. Name one fuckin #republifuck policy designed to improve the lives of families and children. Waiting...........
@OldDude71 my ex brother is solid MAGA. He bristles at the idea of schools providing food to hungry children so there’s that Mr. Vance.
@MidnightRider @OldDude71
I'm so grateful that I can't understand this at all. How does anyone feel like that? This is the "pro life" crowd
@Idissent @MidnightRider @OldDude71
Catholics were a large reliably Democratic crowd for many years. But they and some others were vehemently anti-abortion and when Roe was decided, it gave the GOP something to campaign on
They're not pro-life. That's just a campaign buzz word. They're pro-power (for themselves).
@MidnightRider @Idissent @OldDude71
I was raised Catholic in a big Catholic family ensconced in a big Catholic neighborhood of a big city that was loaded with Catholics.
I left the Church long ago, but my firm conviction is that Catholics are *not* bad people, but they are led by a Church hierarchy that is.
@BrazenlyLiberal think she's referring to the institution and to people as a whole. I know good people and bad of different religions or lack thereof. As a whole it is true many church leaders failed and their constituents did not hold them accountable. Same can be said for our gov. I left my church, not Catholic, because of white conversations and church encouraging people on who "our" candidate was. Let me assure you abortion was not the main driver. @MidnightRider @Idissent @OldDude71
@AnnetteTRemain @BrazenlyLiberal @Idissent @OldDude71 The main driver is almost always ignorance, abortion is only one expression.
@AnnetteTRemain @MidnightRider @Idissent @OldDude71
I think the conversation took a turn here. I never said or meant that anyone left the church because of abortion or anything else. People leave for their own reasons
What I said was that Catholics as a group had been reliably Democratic for many years and also vehemently anti-abortion. When Roe was decided, the GOP made it a perennial mainstay of their platform in an effort to covince Catholics and others opposed to abortion to vote for them
@BrazenlyLiberal Sorry that is my failure to communicate. I should not have brought up abortion. My intended point was many leaders, including church leaders, have failed their communities and the flock lets them. My church failed by supporting racism instead of promoting love, acceptance, and building bridges. Many have failed in not protecting kids. @MidnightRider @Idissent @OldDude71
@BrazenlyLiberal @MidnightRider @OldDude71
This is me as well. No, they're mostly good people listening to the wrong people
