We had a cherry tree and every year it was the same thing. I'd go out, look at it, and see the cherries should be ripe in few days. Each day I'd look and think "maybe tomorrow" until the day I went out and it was bare.

I learned this with my big garden in WA. Very rare that critters ate "too much" of what I grew. And how delightful in the winter when the deer would come across the fields to munch on the broccoli plants still standing. I grew too much of everything the first year, and after that I made sure to do the same. Love all God's creatures! 💙

I grew pie (sour) cherries and the first year it was like that. I bought one of those nets the next year, but I didn't cover the whole tree -- just enough so we could share. :)
