When I lived in Phoenix my roommate and I were arrested for ARMED ROBBERY when we were walking home from a movie!

Long story but it was a case of mistaken identity. First we got spotlit by a police helicopter (who we waved to lol) and suddenly we were surrounded by cop cars and all these cops yelling at us with guns drawn. In a busy convenience store parking lot with lots of people around. They searched us and handcuffed us and put us in separate cars. After about an hour they let us go.

I got home and called my mom and said "Guess what? Me and (my roommate's name) just got arrested for armed robbery!"

Dead silence for about 10 seconds and in a quiet voice she says, "Did you do it?"

🤣 Moms never stop worrying that the worst probably didn't happen but it doesn't hurt to make sure!

Pretty unnerving experience!

@BrazenlyLiberal It was really surreal. My roommate had just found a small screwdriver when we were walking across the street and he had it in his hand. They were yelling at him to drop it and he was like, "It's just a screwdriver" - afterwards we were thinking it could have ended up really bad.
