So I’ve been working on music again, and I found a visualizer program to play with, so I have a new video going up tomorrow. I have a few more I plan on releasing in the coming weeks, so I hope you see and like it!

At this point I have to assume I’m not the only person who experiences something akin to imposter syndrome; I vacillate between being hypercritical and disbelieving of my abilities, to feeling determination in doing what I want and love.
In particular my music making. I go back and forth about my capabilities to compose and arrange music in a way I like, which may or may not be tied to my understanding of the tools at my disposal.
Perfectionism is a flaw of mine.

Anyone else get those agendas in middle school, where you’re supposed to write down when assignments are due and plan out your time? And you had to get them stamped every week to prove you were using it? Did those things help anyone? I hated using them, they never helped me and were just another thing to keep track of. As soon as they weren’t required I was so happy

Just one of those days when nothing seems interesting to watch, like all the choices blend together and nothing sticks out. Millions of YouTube channels, new shows on new services, nostalgic shows on a hard drive, and it all seems boring to me today.
Maybe I’ll go to bed and see how I feel tomorrow.

I was a bit hot on the pan when I was cooking it all, so I didn’t really have a chance to post a picture as I had to constantly turn the “meat”

Now it’s time to simmer for at least an hour before it’s ready. Honestly faster than last time, which took me 12 hours due to poor planning on prep.

Sautéing a modified mirepoix/holy trinity by using green bell peppers, onions, and squash. I plan on adding my “meat” then it’s all into the pot

I’ve been cooking since I got up this morning and only had a little bread and hummus for breakfast, so I had to get some food for now. The chili is simmering and the final ingredients take just a little time

So all the dried chilies from the sachet, plus the roasted bell, poblano, and jalapeño peppers, as well as the stewed tomatoes, have all been puréed and added to the pot. Also thinly sliced jalapeño and serrano peppers

Pulled the sachet out and dumped my acorn squash in. Usually I use butternut but those tear up my hands to cut up, so we’ll see how this goes.

The tomatoes have been smashed, peppers are being broiled in the oven. My little frog friend came apart so I’m fishing bits of arbol out.
I have just dumped a bunch of chopped tomatoes and onions.

Some small tomatoes dropped in to stew a bit while I cut up the rest

I have deployed the sachet of dried chilies to soak, with chipotle, New Mexico, Negro, and Pasilla-Ancho chilies, and the little frog friend is a tea infuser I filled with Arbol chilies

Today is another chili cook-‘em-up, and the beans are on the heat. I’m thinking of doing updates through the day so if you’re curious:
I have 2 lbs of beans soaked overnight (black, pinto, great northern, black eyed peas). I put water and some veggie broth in to start, as well as salt and my own chili spice blend 🤫

So I feel like I should like David Lynch’s work, like it’s surreal and mind bending and I hear from people that it’s freaky but interesting. And yet it’s like the teeth on gears don’t catch, none of it clicks.
Twin Peaks sounded cool, but I was bored halfway through the first episode. That monkey interview thing? It looked right up my alley, but it was like watching the news as a little kid: boring and uninteresting and way too long. People talk up Eraserhead but 🤷
