Iā€™m 57 and found out several years ago the person who also helped create me through ancestry.

After a couple years of texting he asked if i would like to meet- super excited because I wanted to ask him but was scared of rejection.

Now his wife has started texting me -guise of she wants to get to know me first- gettingā€this is between usā€ type of texts. She is telling me a visit maybe next year- but accidentally sent meant for someone else- ā€œnot anytime soon, I donā€™t need her problemsā€

As a kid who dealt with ā€œour secretā€ situations this upsets me. She reads his texts- i never dreamed Iā€™d be dealing with an evil stepmother situation.

I have offered to fly myself down, stay in a hotel and just meet for dinner and she says no.

@Boilergal Don't bother "meeting " them. If he wants to come meet you one on one on your home turf then maybe you could do it. People from that generation have a difficult time understanding DNA technology.

@JPSCHWEIZER63

This is true. I match his brother and niece on ancestry- 2 years later I match him as daughter on 23&Me. The wife says- Iā€™ve never heard of someone finding a parent on those sites. It feels like explaining physics to a 3 years old.

@Boilergal my eldest daughter found a half brother first on Ancestry not much info. Then a year later he asked to share profile on 23 and me. Her father may not know what we know, we saw him that week at his mother's funeral so not the appropriate time to ask.
