The Sendai Daikannon is a large statue located in Sendai, Japan. It portrays a woman, the bodhisattva "White-robed Kannon" bearing the cintamani gem in her hand. At 100M or 330ft its the 8th tallest sculpture in the world.


The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71M (233 ft) tall carved stone statue, built between 713 and 803 AD. The sculpture depicts Maitreya. In Buddhist prophecy Maitreya (the next and 5th Buddha) will emerge after a time of darkness from war to bring/teach peace to the world.
