Please explain to me why I need to make a decision about event dates by EOD today when the event is happening in July 2024.
None of the industries I work in make sense.
- Reasonably priced venues are booked up 2+ yrs in advance
- the events I planned often involved 7 other departments: legal, comms, sales & mktg, to start with, their staff need at least 15 months lead time
- booking guests requires contacting them to ensure they're free 8 months in advance
I could go on but I'll stop here.

@Bliss I hate that you have a valid point. Especially since the school schedule isn't firm yet.
I'm scheduling 24/25 and everyone else is living in 2023.
I hear you. When my youngest son graduated high school the thing i celebrated the most was being free from living by an academic calendar!
@Bliss I have four kids ages 11-21 in four different schools and work wants to know what two weeks in summer '24 I want to take off to go visit family back in the states. Two of my kids are in college. At least one will try to do summer classes or internship. My schedule could be used as a torture device so I'm going to guess and hope we can make the dates work.
