Welp, I had to block friends on FB I thought I knew fairly well. When I hear the Oct 7 massacre being described as "a bunch of israelis got killed" (basically "so what?"), i have nothing further to talk about. Humanity can't be this side or that. War is not clean, I'm not sure how people expect it to be so.

Horrifying.
Even if you don't support the current government of a country, I don't understand how people can be so dismissive of human life.
I've never had the ability to de-humanize that way. Always had a surfeit of empathy.
I understand othering in the abstract, but I've never felt any group of people was "other"--we're all human. Doesn't mean everyone's likable, but damn.
