I became an adult in the 1980's. I have seen the American world get worse with the rise of right wing media. People that I would party with as a teenager started repeating Rush Limbaugh within a few years.
An American world of awful changes:
Our right wing media spread the hate. I have hate burning in me for Trump voters.
@Bix It wasn't just that. We also had not one but two political parties on the take constantly from wealthy donors and industry, who made promises to us, but kept the ones to lobbyists.
And we kept voting those fuckers in.
We had a party trying to dismantle us, and another busy feeding at the trough instead of defending us.
@Bix My advice: If you find yourself motivated by hate, dig past it until you find what you love enough that you feel hate for something that threatens it.
It's always the love that gets you somewhere.
The hate is there to tell you there's a problem. It makes a terrible guide to the solution.
@Bix Note that I did not say "don't hate". I don't believe there's any point in telling people not to feel their actual emotions.
I'm just saying when you feel hate, no matter how good a reason, look for something you love to guide you, so the hate doesn't give you bad advice.
@AskTheDevil @Bix but remember, as my teacher once said, you can have compassion for people and still not put up with their shit
I think they underestimate the blowback from the worst of trump's agenda hitting the very people who voted for him
@Bix
I hate the world we curently live in. I was raised by 2 Republicans who "voted their conscience", meaning they usually voted Dem ... in the 60s. Those were the days when media could be trusted (despite it being the dawn of civil rights).
Today feels more like the 1830s.
@Bix Yeah. It has been painful to watch. It's really been painful to warn people for so long that it's happening and be told I'm a nut.
