CNN:
'One 82-year-old woman, who wore pajamas with holes in them because she didn’t want to spend money on new ones, didn’t realize she had given Republicans more than $350,000 while living in a 1,000 square-foot Baltimore condo since 2020.'

This is part of the brokenness of the whole system. It's designed to just beg and grab and beg and grab, like a machine, and there's nobody to say: "Hey, are you really sure you want to give your life savings away? No. We don't need your money now. Keep it for your own needs and those of your children."
This problem *could* be legislatively regulated in various ways; capping total donations, checking on people with cognitive issues. But mostly, having ethical human beings in the process.

... which is why I don't give money to politicians, even those I agree with. That's a rich man's game.

And the GQP won't care. The worst part is, they gave their money to a "billionaire" who claimed he has so much money, he'd pay for his own campaigning (didn't even do it in '16).
I wouldn't doubt it's bc of the alternating love-bombing & threatening emails sent 50x/day
