This is terrible, though.

I was raised with this sort of narrative, and it wasn't until I was in my 20s and 30s that I began to learn how horrible slavery really was.

Even Jim Crow (post slavery) I didn't realize how horrible that was, as a child.

These people *want* Jim Crow and segregation back again, they like it and hold it up as an ideal. They don't want the horrors taught! They succeeded once, I hope very much they don't succeed again at teaching this BS.
