Got a new pair of shoes 2 weeks ago, wore them like crazy for 3 days to break them in before spending a week in vegas. They were extremely comfortable except the toe started fraying so I exchanged them for an identical pair. New pair are an uncomfortable mess that won't stop squeaking and driving me crazy. How is this possible?

@Beerdini
It may or may not help, but I often find I can stop the squeaking at least, by liberally applying a lanolin based soap or cream (the type sometimes called saddle soap) presuming that a) You're not living a plant based lifestyle and b) you're dealing with leather.
Rub it in with your bare fingers and pay particular attention to the welt where the upper joins the lower part.

It feeds and softens the leather which will lubricate everything and might even solve the discomfort issue.

Where I use to stop the squeaking. Is liberally fill the shoe with baby powder.

@corlin Seems pretty sensible to me. Keeps them fresh, too. Talking of which, I found one of those great "life hack" ideas which actually is useful. Fill an old pair of socks with fresh cat litter and put them in your shoes when you take them off. Any unwanted aromas are gone by morning and it's a hell of a lot less expensive than "shoe freshening" products.
