Welp, I had to make the decision to return home after encountering extremely precarious and outright dangerous snow, ice, and mud conditions on the final approach to the cabin in the mountains.

I actually made it all the way to the cabin but after assessing the situation it was pretty clear that any more snow and I would be completely buried and isolated alone with no cell service.

The egress was stressful and I honestly almost didn’t make it out. Had to self rescue. I’m so disappointed. 😞

I had what felt like a four hour panic attack trying to get back out of there including the snowstorm and ice conditions from Vail to Breckenridge.

I’m just thankful that I got out of there when I could and that the FJ was able to overcome some incredible challenges. It was so bad that I couldn’t even stop my vehicle going 5 mph near some steep cliff drop offs.

My nervous system is entirely shot and I’m certain my suspension took an extreme beating.

Mr Shanks is happy to be home.

@SpaceShanks Glad you made it! I recall a story of a family freezing to death after they got stuck in the snow. Those are some treacherous roads up that way.
