Life is better with Beavis and Butt-head...

I get a kick watching police department news conferences. There's always 20 people there spread out behind the podium looking solemn in their dress blues. The chief speaks, a department community affairs person speaks, then everyone leaves.
Like, what was with all the other people? Is it like a music group, everyone is there but only the lead singer gets to talk? Is appearing some sort of reward? "Mommy's going to be on TV tonight, honey". Bodyguards? Moral support?

I've said this before, but one of the joys I have each morning is coming in and checking some of the logs. Especially the one saying essentially "65,000 students matched with scholarships yesterday"

They're not all huge scholarships, some are only a few hundred dollars, but they could also be tens of thousands.

And they could be going to the next Einstein who wouldn't have gotten a chance to be more than a factory worker otherwise.

I do really love my job and what it does.

I always shake my head when someone says the UI here is too hard. It's not. It's just different. And you can go into ostrich mode to make it simpler. Different isn't bad.

I’m successful at being a loner. I learned to be blunt somewhere in my 30s. My solitude is worth more than someone’s hurt feelings. Lol.
This book made everything clear. Most of the cultures on this planet encourage togetherness, teamwork. Pure hell for some of us.

I thought I would like the job I still sort of have, but I realized I don't like a major part of it: Dealing with other people. I'm not really an in-person people person.
