Barker had only made two short movies before Hellraiser, which marked his debut as a feature-film director. He said he was disappointed with how producers treated his material in the 1985 film Underworld, which led him to write The Hellbound Heart, which would eventually be made into Hellraiser. He went to a library to find books about how to direct movies, but both books that dealt with the topic had already been checked out. - C.Catalog

@Apocryphiliac I love Barkers novels so much.
@theeCheese I haven’t gone too much into his novels. Which ones do you like the best?
@Apocryphiliac Weaveworld and Hellbound Heart, and Damnation Game are among my favorites.
@theeCheese I have been meaning to read Weaveworld. Thanks for the recommendation. 👍
@Apocryphiliac I hope you like it.
@theeCheese Thanks! Imagica and Weaveworld are part of a series, too, I think?
What did you think of The Scarlett Gospels?
@Apocryphiliac I have never read The Scarlett Gospels.
@theeCheese I’ve read Hellbound Heart and I am interested in it as a follow-up, although I have heard mixed reviews.
@Apocryphiliac Imajica is so very good too.
@Apocryphiliac Very interesting
