Let’s talk some metal music, ‘Nauts! No hate, just tell me who you love. 🎸🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥🎸
I’m mostly into the gnarliest riff lords, Thrash, Grindcore, Doom and Death. It won’t make me buzz if it don’t got that scuzz.
@rokkinbobokkin good sh*t. And I know I said no hate, but I just want to mention that Cliff Burton, as much as it gets talked about, was such a massive, massive loss.
@Apocryphiliac
I don't see how that is hate. Rock is full of talented that passed too soon.
Oh, and they weren't very big, but Sevendust was great, and not sure it qualifies, but White Zombie before they finally self-destructed was great.
@rokkinbobokkin @Apocryphiliac
in the 90's I was all about Sepultura, Slayer, Carcass, Obituary, Testament, Pantera, Fear Factory, and also hit my limit at the black album. I took a break from metal for years because it got weird in my area with the Avenged Sevenfold kind of jock scene, but jumped back in recently. CoB for sure, Gojira, Amon Amarth, Bastard Sapling, Mastodon... One unexpectedly cool band I've been digging is Mesarthim which is like electronic stuff mixed with black metal
@rokkinbobokkin @Apocryphiliac
I need to be careful with black metal bands through because I don't want to support NSBM and sometimes it's hard to tell.
@SkunkMalone @rokkinbobokkin yeah… I feel you. 👍
@SkunkMalone @Apocryphiliac
I can't believe I forgot Mastodon. Arrrrfff. Good shitt
@rokkinbobokkin @Apocryphiliac
Metal is so diverse to, I love a lot of doom and stoner stuff, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats, Mountain Witch, High on Fire, Om... so much good shit. Sometimes... sometimes... grind/gorecore 🤣 but I have to me in a mood.
@SkunkMalone @Apocryphiliac
I'm a big fan of stoner/acid metal.
Real trippy shit with long hooks and FX. Helps me get in the work zone.
Soundgarden-,Thayil
@rokkinbobokkin @SkunkMalone Thayil is/was a ln absolute beast. Too bad there was such a gap of years that he wasn’t really putting anything out or performing.
@Apocryphiliac @SkunkMalone
I think it might be hard to step down if you've always been jamming and writing with Chris. What a muthafukkin voice!!
And those lyrics....
@rokkinbobokkin @SkunkMalone well, and that was what he said at the time… I’m paraphrasing, but: “I already played with the best, so what point is there in playing with anyone else?”
@Apocryphiliac @SkunkMalone
They were incredible together, like Layne and Jerry
@rokkinbobokkin @SkunkMalone don’t make me cry thinking about Chris, Layne, Cliff, etc. dangit.
@Apocryphiliac @SkunkMalone
You should check this show out. It's not a series where the episodes are related. They're all different works. Short movies. They're rad.b
@Apocryphiliac @SkunkMalone
It's so good.
@SkunkMalone @rokkinbobokkin yeah, it’s *such* a diverse genre. I think that gets very much overlooked by the casual observer. I mean, there is a lot, a lot, of metal I have no taste for at all. And I think all metal fans are like that. (Why I specifically mentioned the “No hate” thing in my OP 😉).
@Apocryphiliac @SkunkMalone
Same, lots of the subgenres aren't for me, but....it's cool.
@Apocryphiliac @rokkinbobokkin
but all metal bands look up to The Upper Crust
@SkunkMalone @rokkinbobokkin see, and I’ve never even heard of these guys. Oliver Twist, eh? 😂

I'm a sucker for bands that dress up in dumb costumes regardless of the genre.
@SkunkMalone @Apocryphiliac
The Original, True Kings
Living the Legend Lives
@SkunkMalone @Apocryphiliac
Fakkin 80s man. So many bands.
This was the first one I felt the metal, but then I found Thrash and Speed Metal
@rokkinbobokkin @SkunkMalone how about Helmet? Any other fans of Page Hamilton?

@Apocryphiliac @rokkinbobokkin
I can't listen to Unsung in my car or I get speeding tickets.
@SkunkMalone @rokkinbobokkin their best tunes are a neurology all their own.
@SkunkMalone @Apocryphiliac
Dude
...Twisted Sister, Alice, Marilyn, Zombie, Bowie.....it's a great gag
GWAR !!!!!!!
@rokkinbobokkin @Apocryphiliac
I would have loved to see GWAR in their prime...
@SkunkMalone @Apocryphiliac
Oh yeah, when I saw them first, they were already a more tired version, and that was early 90s
@SkunkMalone @Apocryphiliac
Hahahahaha. I need to see them with The Darkness
@Apocryphiliac if you love older Black Sabbath, you need to know Sheavy: https://m.youtube.com/results?search_query=sheavy
@Proteus Cool! Yeah I have listened to them some before. I love a lot of the doom and stoner metal stuff, though tbh, at times there seems to be so much I will lose track and forget who I like. 😂
Thanks for the reminder on these guys, though. They’re definitely right in my wheelhouse. 🤘🤘
@Apocryphiliac I have to include Trouble. Psalm 9 was on constant repeat, when I found them
@MrMalignance New to me!
@Apocryphiliac check them out if you get the chance. Very trad doom
