New Album - Blog #3

So I've spent today working on the "B Section" on the next-to-last song on the album, a lengthy prog-like track called "Nothing at All". The "A Section" is a farily standard rock and roll tune, but the "B Section" is a lenghty Pink Floyd-inspired jam with multiple time signature changes that will start out slow on a single guitar and build and build into a monster.

I spent a part of my day breaking down the parts in The Association's "Along Comes Mary" for a side project. I love that song and always have, but I never really realized just how BIZARRE the bass part is.

I'm not talking about the climb up the neck that takes place in the chorus. I'm talking about the triplets in the first verse that never show up again, or who it's both an electric bass and an upright bass in a few places of the song.

I notice that almost always the people who don't want to give up even thinking about owning a gun always say that it's not a gun problem but a "mental health crisis".

Um... Maybe a country with such a "mental health crisis" shouldn't have such easy access to guns?

My downstairs neighbors smoke pot. I don't object to this despite not smoking it myself, but I do wish they would buy better shit.

Pot's been legal in CA for a while now, and I'm concerned that the new generation of pot smokers aren't learning how to tell the bad shit from the good shit like we had to do when it was illegal.

Because if they were the scent coming in my window from down below wouldn't so much smell like skunk.

New Album - Blog #2

In 2021 I released an EP of cover songs. They're pretty Lo-Fi; I was going through what I refer to as my "garage pop" phase when I recorded it, and one of the tracks I remade was Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Alone Again, Naturally". It's a decent version, with synthesized strings, oboe and french horns.

A crazy thing happened...
