Here is this week's Radio Free California, Episode 2244. As per usual, my ranty blog version will be up later and I'll have some thoughts about the state of the bird site. New music this week from Laura Jean, Crown Lands, Atarashii Gakkou, Monalisa Twins, Ryan Adams, Alabama Shakes, Joe Lynn Turner, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and much more. Enjoy!

I always thought that Low did what they did better than anyone else.

Mimi Parker was too young for this. Gonna miss that voice.

RIP Mimi

I am not only old enough to have attended Woodstock, I DID attend Woodstock. You know what I remember about it?

Sha-Na-Na.

Give me a break. I was 3 years old.

My dad wanted to see one of his paratrooper buddies play. A fella named Jimi.

Back in 1989 I released a single as an indie artist under the name Jim Christopher (I share the same name with the lead singer of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and he got there first). It got traction in a couple of local clubs because of the odd use of acoustic instruments on a dance track, and would lead to me recording a full album in the same style the next year - also independently.

This is "Favorite Partner" - my first single as a solo artist.

This is one of the most amazing pieces of music ever. Full disclosure: I used to be in a band with one of the sax players.

It is just after 11pm my time. I completed 4 mixes of the song and might do one more. But for now, I just started some ribs on a slow cook in my kitchen and am going to bed. Tomorrow morning my house is going to smell like heaven.

Back in January I released this single and video. It's won me a couple of awards and you probably haven't heard it. Stick around all the way to the end for the gut punch that reveals what the song is about.

Enjoy "Stick Around", by Chris Reed and the Anime Raiders.

Did a lot of mixing today on the new single. Now the real question is whether or not to release it in December or wait until everyone is done with crappy Christmas Music.

So here is this week's Radio California, Episode 2243. My blog version will be up later.

Eclectic and pretty good week for new music, including Dragonette, Martha, Adam Bostwick, MOULE, Drugdealer, Abraxas, Scout Gillett and much more. Enjoy!

The next single. No release date yet - still need to mix it and deal with a few other issues. Artwork not by AI. Not by Human either.

Just recorded my first vocals since having twice over the summer. I have to admit that I think my voice sounds different.

This next song is also seriously outside my comfort zone, so we'll see how it does. It's going to take a few days to mix. Lots of tracks.

If I get enough boosting/likes or whatever they're called here I'll start putting up links and quick descriptions of the songs I've released over the last 2 years.

Here it is, Radio Free California Episode 2242! Quite a week for new music, and it's an eclectic one, just in time for Halloween! Music from Marshal Crenshaw, me, Copperstone, Arthur Brown, Goat, Simple Minds, a-ha, Manhattan Transfer, B'z, Taylor Swift and (for real) QUEEN! Enjoy!

This next Radio Free California is going to be eclectic as all hell. It happens this close to Halloween.

Until yesterday I had never heard of the song "Unholy" by Sam Smith and Kim Petras. It's not bad, for a Tik Tok length song, and I approve of there being a trans person at the top of the charts.

And then today one of my personal obsessions, Frog Leap Studios, released their own version, which rocks like crazy.

Out now, "Unfilmed Movie Soundtrack from the 1990's" by Chris Reed and the Anime Raiders. A 4 song EP featuring music licensed for a movie that didn't get made. I didn't get paid, but you can still hear/buy it! Available at all the usual suspects.

So I have a story to tell you, and it winds around a bit. This is the tale my new EP, made up entirely of music I released in the 1990's.

A lifetime ago I worked in Cable Television for my day job. Band at night, Cable TV Executive by day. Now this is long before Cable got glamorous or even paid well...
