New music from the guy who once played bass for Frank Zappa.

Winger. Seriously. No kidding.

RIP JIM Gordon, the drummer who wrote and played the most famous piano part in rock history (i.e. the 2nd half of "Layla") and has spent most of his life in prison for killing his mother at the advice of the voices in his head.

Thinking about starting a podcast to accompany my Radio Free California streaming episodes. It would probably be boring as hell to listen to, but it would be a chance to talk about the artists and the music that I find. Maybe not boring for the music nerds (like me).

Just thinking about it. For those of you who crave new music, would this interest you?

And at last here is this week's Radio Free California, Episode 2311. Sorry it's so long - I just kept finding good new music.

My blog version will be up later.

New music from legends like Yes, Peter Gabriel, Fishbone and Depeche Mode, plus great bands like Your Heart Bleeds, Theo Katzman, Blondshell, Christine and the Queens, Beach Fossils and much more. Enjoy!

Far too often (and for 3 of this year's nominees) the song has nothing to do with the movie, even if thematically it ties in (like Rhianna's song for Wakanda Forever - which face it is a nice song) it's not about the movie itself. It's just song placement.

For me in order to win this category the song has to be a PART of the movie. That was only the case for 2 of this year's nominees. And one of them actually won - which is't common. I approve.

I don't generally have opinions when it comes to the Oscars, except for the music categories - because I know a great deal about them. The score for All Quiet on the Western Front was the best one and it deserved the win. When it comes to best song, for me I want the song to be something that is integral to the film, not what shows up over the end credits.

Damn. Just... Dayam. Dude has just about the lowest voice I've ever heard that isn't just a novelty.

So I have a conundrum. Should my next single be the slow burning ballad that takes Texas to task, or should it be the Up-tempo rocker that takes Florida to task?

Going to put down vocals once I'm over this freakin' cold.

The Church have a new album out. Which reminds me that back in 1990 they released a nearly perfect album.

I started out my musical life on the Saxophone. I wanted to play like this man.

My era of his playing was Weather Report, but I got into the earlier stuff too. Heavy Weather is still one of my favorite albums of all time.

RIP you crazy groove master.

Finally got the drums right for one of the tracks for my next album. Every measure starts in the last 32nd note of the previous measure. That's right, a 1/32 beat offset for the entire song.

This is gonna be fun.
