My partner read the books, I have not (although have read all of the Dune & Sword of Truth series).
He felt like you that is was not like the books - I agreed that I didn't care for they way it was headed even though I enjoy almost all read SciFi (not horror). So this lead to cancelling our Apple+ subscription.
@Animeraider
Agreed. But I'm really enjoying the series nevertheless.
@Animeraider It's astonishing to me how often screen adaptations of Asimov's works have nothing in common with his writings, save the title.
That Will Smith atrocity, I, Robot springs immediately to mind. Gone were all the nuances of his argument, the theme, the characters and settings. Blade Runner had more in common with the I, Robot book than that movie.
Having said that: If it had a different title, I would have no complaints.
@Animeraider I last read the books when "Prelude to Foundation" came out in 1993, so my memory of the book details is practically nil, but I'm enjoying the series. For a story that had long been held up as "unfilmable" I think they're doing a good job.
@Animeraider
yeah it *cannot* be farther from the books. i’ve really had to let the books go to enjoy the show as its own space opera.
