Interesting idea, but it has a flaw. Harris’s approval numbers are worse than Biden’s. And, she’s a woman of color to boot. How about this? Harris bows out so that Biden can have a strong VP candidate able to take over when necessary. Folks wouldn’t trust Harris in that role. Biden ain’t gonna quit before the election, so there needs to be a good alternative VP in place.
@johnldeboer The base of the Democratic Party is black women. What happens if you discard a black woman for a white person?
@TetsuKaba @johnldeboer
Part of the VP job is to not steal focus from the president.
I want someone who has been sitting in those cabinet meetings and can pick up the baton on day 1. I think Buttigieg would be great in debates, but if you're worried about voters with biases, he is in the same position as Harris.
When canvassing for Hillary, I was surprised how many Black men won't consider a female candidate. They get too little respect as men themselves.
@junation @TetsuKaba @johnldeboer
Nor the Black men in my neighborhood. It was younger men in rough neighborhoods.
@AlphaCentauri Doesn’t surprise me, and I think Hispanic men have the same mindset overall. And white men won’t admit it!
@AlphaCentauri @johnldeboer How many of those men actually vote? One of the difficulties of modern polling seems to be capturing low propensity voters. A lot of people came out to vote in 2016 for Drumpf never voted before. 2020 they didn’t vote in as high numbers (how many died of Covid?). This election year seems like pollsters are trying to capture their info. Just some difficult to answer questions. I have no idea what the best answer is, just that we have to keep fascists out of office.
@AlphaCentauri @TetsuKaba @johnldeboer I had no trouble with Kamala myself. Neither do other black men I know.
