They've got warehouses everywhere, and if they ship enough stuff, it doesn't cost much more for the delivery person to bring 10 things to your block as it does to bring one.

Except it's USPS bringing it to me. It really has nothing to do with the actual shipping method. It's the pick method I am concerned about. If it is a non rush item, why is it shipped the following day? It should be a low priority item, is all I'm saying.

But the actual time to pick it is the same. I would certainly argue their employees should be treated better, with climate control, bathrooms on each floor, distribution of orders so people are picking things that are located in the same area so there's less running around, but those things don't delay delivery and could even make it faster.
@MrsBentoBako I think they've done the math and it creates less CO2 to have things delivered that way, instead of you driving to various stores shopping and everyone driving their own purchases home, too.
