I could weep. Shakey's had the best pizza and greatest pizza buffet of all time. The game room also had Star Castle, a hard one to find.
Fukkers replaced Star Castle with Q-Bert and the place closed soon after that. You leave Star Castle alone, people.
@miserable_day The Shakey's I went to had a big organ and a guy who would play it. I loved getting there in time for the show.
Yes! There was one called The Old Piper Inn but it was a giant player piano. You got a straw hat free straw hat if it was your bithday.
@miserable_day In Hopkins, MN there used to be a place called the Village Inn. It was another pizza place, but half of it was also a constantly running movie theater. I saw the original Captain Marvel serial there. It was my favorite place.
@miserable_day As I understand it, MST3K was more centered in Eden Prairie, which was a bit of a distance away from Hopkins. On the other hand, the MST3K fan club used a Hopkins address, so there is a connection. So... maybe?
@AbelUndercity
Heh...I remember the PO Box that would appear on the screen. I found the show completely by accident. I had one of those loop UHF antennas, and I happened to pull in K41 from Saint Cloud.
And, behold, there was MST3K. I could not believe that someone had made a show for me.
I will forever be grateful to Joel. Oh, one of the original writers, J. Elvis Weinstein, and Andy Kindler have a podcast.
