I have been offering guidance to my child tonight to help them be present and effective for their friend.

We never know when we will be called to comfort someone who is suffering acutely.

Selflessness and purity of heart seem to be key.

I don't know, but to me the try really matters.

@Minholkin Oh gosh yes. I have one that I will regret for all of my life. I have forgiven myself, but I learned painfully not to leave anyone on a bad note. Even when we disagree. 💙 I was only 17, but still. It was a hard lesson.
